Contaminants in Tap Water - Safe or Not?
I just read an article published by the New York Times about a (quite popular) kind of weed killer, atrazine, and how dangerous it is when you ingest atrazine! It really made me think about whether it's safe to drink water right from the tap and if I should get some type of water filtering system now, or just switch to drinking bottled water altogether.
From the New York Times article:
Officials at the Environmental Protection Agency say Americans are not exposed to unsafe levels of atrazine. They say that current regulations are adequate to protect human health, and that the doses of atrazine coming through people’s taps are safe — even when concentrations jump.
But some scientists and health advocates disagree. They argue that the recent studies offer enough concerns that the government should begin re-examining its regulations. They also say that local water systems — which have primary responsibility for the safety of drinking water — should be forced to monitor atrazine more frequently, in order to detect short-term increases and warn people when they occur.
The E.P.A. has not cautioned pregnant women about the potential risks of atrazine so that they can consider using inexpensive home filtration systems. And though the agency is aware of new research suggesting risks, it will not formally review those studies until next year at the earliest. Federal scientists who have worked on atrazine say the agency has largely shifted its focus to other compounds.
I decided to check out some water filtration systems for my kitchen after I read the article, since I do not want to spend a lot of money on bottled water, nor do I want to risk ingesting too much atrazine. Here's what I found: Zuvo Water, a water purator/home water filter that breaks down contaminants (such as weed killer) in tap water and makes it safe to drink for everyone. Vaseline (Body Lotion) Product Test for Expo TV
You have to join their website here first (if you're not a member already) and then go to this survey and see if you qualify. If you're chosen to receive the product, you'll have to do a video review of it and upload it to Expo TV.
Expo TV pays you for doing video product reviews, but I'm not a member yet so I'm not sure exactly how it all works. I have heard a few good things about their site though. Let me know if you have been paid by them before!

Rock Of Ages: Original Broadway Cast Recording
I recently received a copy of the Rock Of Ages: Original Broadway Cast Recording CD from One2One Network to review, I was really excited (you'll know why) and popped it into my CD player as soon as I opened the mail.
I totally loved all the songs on the CD! Well, to be honest, I was most excited to hear Don't Stop Believin', because the original song by Journey just happens to be one of my all-time favorites!
I can tell you that I was not disappointed by the CD at all, but the cast recording version is way, way different from the original, so it wasn't exactly what I expected to hear. If you've ever heard the "Glee" cast version of the song, this is sort of similar to that, they have a bunch of different voices (people) singing the songs.
Still, I like all the songs on this CD almost as much as I like the original versions. They're good, but not as good, and the originals are even better!
All the songs have some cheering and maybe some words that weren't a part of the lyrics in them, but this might be a good thing - it helps to recreate that whole "theater experience" and it just makes you feel as if you were really seeing/hearing the Broadway musical.
Here's some more cool information: Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis. Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80's. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.
Sounds interesting, huh? You can listen to all the songs in the Rock Of Ages: Original Broadway Cast Recording CD on Amazon, or purchase the whole CD right now for just $10.99. I'd say it's a great price for 23 songs! They also have a Making of Soundtrack video on Youtube, so check that out.

Lockerz - The Latest Obsession?

I'm Back!
Yes, I am - after a 2-month hiatus - and I want to change this blog up a bit.
I'm going to start with the contents... I won't just be posting freebies from now on! I'm going to be focusing more on deals and frugal living. I'll mainly be posting reviews of products, cool deals I find, coupons, ways to make some extra cash, ways to save money, and more frugal tips. But I'll still try to get freebie posts in everyday.
So with that big change, I've also decided to give the blog a "makeover"! I'm re-naming it to "It's a Frugal World" (but the URL of my blog did not change, it's still moneyandfreebies.blogspot.com), and I've picked out a new template/layout as well.
By the way... I'm thinking about having a reader appreciation contest soon.... Hmmmmm.
